Sonnenblumen Community Development Group e.V. invites to: An African came to Germany for Colonial Debts.

Reading and discussion with Cameroonian author, Dr. Priscillia Manjoh, about her novel “Snare” and the indelible marks of colonialism on Sub-Saharan Africans with moderator Cesaire Beyel (computer scientist; entrepreneur). Laura Tinzoh (author) will read excerpts of the book.

30th. June 2021, 7:30 pm - LIVESTREAM über: SCDG TV Channel - YouTube

"SNARE offers the reader a strikingly alert profile of the challenging life of the African in a developed country. The author successfully portrays these scenes through the love life of the main characters Jerry and Pamela which becomes interlocked with the European dream and the tragic outcome of their relationship as a result of the discrepancy between the appearance and reality of what life in the West (Germany) is like. The novel is an eye-opener to those who still have the intention of becoming "bush fallers" with the alluring possibility of a successful life."

Dr. Balbina Mesue Ebong, Douala, Cameroon.

Dr. Priscillia M. Manjoh, author, part-time lecturer (Centre for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) and filmmaker Sucki (2017). In Snare, she engages a diaspora narrative that reveals the ugly realism of emigration. Intertwined with a story of love and (un)pleasant memories of home, she skilfully wove themes of exile, dreams differed and culture shock with an eloquence that is captivating, published by MIRACLAIRE PUBLISHING LLC 2013.
